Met Costume Institute Gala 2012- The Red Carpet!

The Met Costume Institute Gala is one of the biggest nights in New York where all the celebs wear their most extravagant dresses to impress the fashion industry! The great thing about this event is that we get to choose who we think are the best and worst dressed of the night!

The Metallic Ladies!!

Lea Michele looked stunning in a fabulous navy dress that has a slit up the middle and a low cut neck line.

Lana Del Rey wore a Joseph Altuzarra dress that almost looked like a disco ball! A great look for Lana! :)

Jessica Alba wore a gold metallic one shouldered dress which she looked amazing in! We love her side-swept hair-do!

To create Lana Del Rey and Jessica Alba’s gorgeous curls we recommend using the Denman Large Self-Grip Hair Rollers! We can’t believe we are going to say this but what was Beyoncé’s thinking! We’re not a big fan of the see-through parts and the purple feathers on the bottom… not one of our favourites! :( However… it is a fashion event… so Beyoncé definitely got a lot of attention in that dress! Do you love it or hate it?

Kristen Stewart’s dress isn’t the worst that we’ve seen but those shoes aren’t the best choice!

Lady Gaga’s Super Long Hair!

Lady Gaga is one very busy girl! She has just begun her tour of the ‘Born This Way Ball’ and will be working non-stop for a year! But Gaga never disappoints her fans, she always make sure that she will hit headlines in the newspapers with her new outfit or hairstyle.

We have say… we’re not entirely sure about the glasses!! But you never know this year they maybe the ‘Summer Must-Have’!!

We love Gaga’s hair, it’s been the colours of the rainbow (even if it is a wig!) and it’s been long and short! Every time we see her she has a different hairstyle! This time Gaga was spotted in Hong Kong with super long hair! We’re not quite sure if it’s a wig or if she just added hair extensions but we have to say that she looks fab! Gaga’s hair always sits perfectly and is so glossy – making us very jealous!!

The Volumised Braid!!

Victoria Beckham has come a long way since the Spice Girls as she is now a model and fashion designer! Victoria always looks amazing, her make-up is perfect, her clothes are fab and her hair is either super glossy or in a glamorous up-do!

Recently Victoria has been seen sporting a volumised braid! She really suits this look and it is something completely different for her. Victoria has had her hair cut up short and into different shaped bobs, so it’s good to see that she is experimenting with her hair. We like that Victoria has made something that would mostly like be seen at a festival or a shopping day seem more elegant and classy.

The best part about this hairstyle is that it is super easy to create and will only take you maximum 10 minutes, which means it’s perfect for work or if you’re in a rush to go out!

1. Starting at the front of the head take a section of hair and spray it with hairspray. Take the Denman D91 Dressing Out Brush and backcomb that section of hair. Continue this technique around the front of your hair. By backcombing the hair you will be creating volume and height at the top of your head.

2. Once the front of your hair has been backcombed you want to gather it at the back of your head, gently twist it and push it up into a bouffant. Secure in pin with bobby pins. Feel free to let any loose hair strands free or if you have a fringe to leave that out of the bouffant.

3. For the rest of the hair, bring it round to one side and begin to braid it. Secure with an elastic. Gently tug at the braid to loosen it.

4. Finish with hairspray.

Scarlett Johansson gets a Star on the Walk Of Fame!!

Yesterday was a big day for Scarlett Johansson, as she received a star on the ‘Walk of Fame’ in Hollywood! The Walk of Fame consists of stars embedded into the walkway along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard. The stars are achievements to actors, directors, musicians, fictional characters and musicals.

Scarlett Johansson looks amazing for her ceremony in Hollywood Boulevard; she’s gone for a 50′s style outfit which was very patterned. She wore a floral top with a squared black and white design skirt. She accessorised her look with red heels and red lipstick. Scarlett wore her hair in a glamorous Old Hollywood Glamour up-do - a great look! :)

To re-create Scarlett’s glamorous up-do, just follow the below steps:

1. Blowdry your hair using a Denman D74 Medium Hot Curl brush, this brush has a heat retaining barrel which means that you can use it to add curl to your hair, which is the effect we want to create.

2. Once all of your hair is dried, take the Denman D82M Boar Bristle Brush and begin to brush all of your hair back. Leave one section at one side of your hair out from the rest of your hair. Secure the hair in a ponytail at the back of your head and then begin pinning small sections of the ponytail into a bun.

3. Take the section of hair that you left out and gently twist it so it is loose and pin it behind your ear.

4. Secure with hairspray.

FHM’s Sexiest Woman In The World!

Last night was FHM’s Sexiest Woman in the World Party, where all the girls got their best and fanciest dresses on to see if they made it to number one!!

This year’s Sexiest Woman in the World goes to… Tulisa Constostavlos!! Congratulations!! :)

Tulisa definitely lived up to her new title as ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’ as she looked amazing in a one shoulder dress with gold studs! This is such a great look for her and we love that she has gone for a glamorous up-do! :)

Millie Mackintosh came in at 15th place! The Made In Chelsea star looked fab in a LBD (Little Black Dress) and accessorised her look with black and white heels – Love them!! :)

Helen Flangagan from Coronation Street only made it to number 47… which we are really surprised at because we think she looks gorgeous in a  stunning red bodycon dress!

Both Helen and Millie wore their hair in sleek ponytails; this is fab because it shows that ponytails aren’t just for bad hair days! Lydia Bright Glamorous Photoshoot!

Lydia Bright is a fashion icon; we love her because she doesn’t follow the Essex trend of fake tan. Lydia has her own individual style which is usually vintage and we love to see what she wears next! Recently Lydia chopped off her hair into a long bob and we think that she looks fab!

Lydia modelled for Now Magazine wearing different outfits such as a black jumpsuit and a colour block skirt and top! She looked fab! Even though we think Lydia suits her hair short, it’s great to see that she doesn’t mind clipping in some hair extensions to give her a completely different look!

To create Lydia’s Top Ponytail just follow the below steps:

1. Straighten your hair completely with our Denman Ice Diamond Stylers.

British Soap Awards 2012

Last night in London was the British Soap Awards, where the TV Soaps competed against each other, not only for the awards of Best Female or Best Newcomer but is was for Best Dressed of the night!!

Oh we love a bit of rivalry on the red carpet – the best part is seeing what all the stars are wearing and picking out our favourite dress of the night! Let’s see the celebs that attended this event! :)

Shona McGarty from EastEnders looked fabulous in dark floor-length dress with a knee-high split! Also we love her up-do hairstyle, as it adds a bit more glamour to her look! :) To create Shona’s hairstyle, scrape all of your hair back into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic. Take a Denman Bun Ring and slot the ponytail through the ring to the base of the ponytail. Take sections of hair from the ponytail and wrap them over the bun ring so it is hidden. Finish with hairspray.

Jennifer Metcalfe from Hollyoaks wore a stunning turquoise bandage dress which she looked amazing in! Jennifer also appeared in Dancing On Ice. We love that Jennifer has just kept her hair loose and free with a bit of volume!

Michelle Keegan from Coronation Street is definitely ‘Our Best Dressed’ of the night!! We love her shimming dark navy shouldered dress – Gorgeous!! This week’s hairstyle is on Sleek Straight Hair! Straight hair has been around for many years. Most people use their straightening irons to make sure they get their hair looking super sleek. But using irons on your hair constantly is damaging your hair. This is why we have two brushes that will straighten your hair and add shine to it without using irons. Therefore making it safer and better for your hair.

Gemma Collins has just got her hair cut shorter and a new full fringe! We think that she looks gorgeous and we are loving her new natural look, without extensions. Gemma is working on her new fashion line at the moment and has recently opened her new SimplyBe Store in Leicester.

Kim Kardashian has always had super long hair, but she really suits it. We think it would be strange if she got it cut up short, but who knows she may look even better. We love Kim’s long hair, it always looks so sleek and glossy – making us very jealous!

The first technique to get straight hair without straightening irons is using our Denman Straightening brush. This brush is shaped exactly like a pair of irons except it has bristles. To use it, clamp the straightening brush on a section of damp hair, point the hairdryer at the vented part of the brush (this will create your heat) and slowly glide both of them down the hair. Repeat this technique over the rest of the hair!

Celebs Attend The Carphone Warehouse Appy Awards!

Last night in London was the Carphone Warehouse Appy Awards, which the public voted for their favourite apps.

This was a huge event which celebrities also attended to show their support. The celebrities included Diana Vickers, Amy Childs & Claudia Winkleman.

Diana Vickers wore a smock-style dress but we don’t think it’s one of our favourites. Even though her dress wasn’t big hit, we love her pink dipped-dyed hair! A great hair colour for summer!  :)

Emily Atack Promoting New Film – Outside Bet!

Last night was the premiere of the Outside Bet, which is a new movie about 3 friends who get made redundant back in the 80′s, invest all of their savings into a racehorse. The movie stars Emily Atack, who is best known as her role in The Inbetweeners as Charlotte! Emily was also a contestant on the hit TV show, Dancing On Ice.

This is Emily’s first ever movie, so she definitely wanted to make an impression on the red carpet. Well she has achieved that because she looks stunning!! She wore a one shouldered black satin floor-length dress by Stella McCartney and she had her hair curled with a quiff and brought round to one side – almost like a ‘Greek Goddess’ look!

To create Emily’s Red Carpet Hair-Do, just follow the below steps.

1. Spray the front of your hair with hairspray and then backcomb it using the Denman D91 Dressing Out brush. This will create volume and height for the quiff.

2. Once your hair is backcombed , scrape it back, twist it and push it up into a bouffant. Secure it using bobby pins. Curl the rest of your hair with tongs or straighteners.

3. Bring your hair around to one side and at the nape of your neck; secure the hair in place using bobby pins. This will make sure that your hair stays at one side of your head.
